The World And The Corona Virus.

Image
Corona virus: the way forward for the whole world.  I have always been curious and amused about the nature of the planet we live. The earth is a very volatile planet that is constantly changing, destroying and rebuilding itself through its natural activities that span across eons. From earthquakes to volcanoes, plagues, flus, viruses, bacteria, to tempest, to hurricane, heat waves, landslides, tsunamis and a host of other disasters, the mother earth keeps checking the world’s population by herself from the time of her creation. As these natural disasters unfold, humans either learn to live by them and bear the consequences or perish in thousands or millions by them. As the level of science and technology grow in the world, the mortality rate to these natural disasters become drastically reduced to the extent that humans are now discovering most natural disasters long before they happen.  Yet, once in a while, these disasters happen unbidden, unexpectedly and unchecked for a c

LETTER TO MY DAUGHTER 5.

Image
Dear Sharon, be careful of corona virus.  At Home, Dear daughter, its been a very long  time since we corresponded. Since December last year, I have not heard any response from you and I am worried about you. How are you doing? I hope you are good and fine? How is studies going over there in the US? The world is battling a common enemy now so I am sure that you know what this letter is about. The corona virus is a transmittable virus which is carried through the body fluid of an infected person. We have been hearing a lot of heart breaking news since its outbreak last year in Wuhan Province, China. Because Nigerian economy is largely tied to China, we have been indirectly affected by the havoc wrecked by this reckless virus.  Our government has been boasting left and right and telling anyone who cares to listen that this country is more than adequate to fight the virus if it should enter this country. Unfortunately, this virus is now in Nigeria. It came in through our bord

AMOTEKUN, NORTHERN NIGERIA’S NIGHTMARE.

Image
Operation Amotekun, terror to the terrorists.  The Yoruba tribe is unarguably one of the most advanced and developed tribe in Nigeria. The tribe occupies the south western part of Nigeria and their history dates back to hundreds of years ago when a supernatural being called Oduduwa ascended from heaven and landed in Ile-Ife, Osun state Nigeria. Amotekun vehicles pictures.   The Yoruba race occupies only six out of the thirty six states in Nigeria and these are: Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Ondo, Osun and Ekiti states. The Yorubas are known for their hospitality, generousity, openness and strife for excellence. In the sixties in Nigeria, the western part of Nigeria was developed far ahead of other region. Even till date, the western part of Nigeria still remains the most developed part of Nigeria. Recently, the south western region has been invaded by a horde of armed bearing Fulani herdsmen who plunder cities and villages in search of pasture for their cattle. This Fulani herds

NIGERIA AND CORONA VIRUS.

Image
Can Nigeria Curtail Corona Virus?  I have been vocal and loud about how devastating it would be if this virus is allowed to enter this country.  As usual, Nigerian government had been boasting that it had put measures into place to prevent the outbreak of the virus if it manages to enter this country. We all knew that it was mere boasting, the only thing that the Nigerian government will ever put measures in place to prevent is impact to their own bogus revenue and allowances. Since the outbreak of the virus in Wuhan Province, China, last year, the virus had spread to many countries in the world including Iran and Italy. This February, some African countries had recorded the outbreak of the virus, making the threat a reality to Nigeria. Just yesterday evening, it was reported in the news that the first case of the virus was reported in Lagos Nigeria through and Italian expatriate who came to Nigeria.  The question on my mind is, has all the people that he came to Nigeria wit

02/02/2020, A VERY RARE AND SPECIAL DAY.

Image
Today is a palindromic day! A palindrome is a word, phrase, or sequence that reads the same backwards as forwards, e.g.  madam  or  nurses run . A  palindrome  is a type of word play in which a word, phrase, or sentence reads the same backward or forward. These are some examples of palindromes: bib , bob boob , bub , dad , deed did , dod , dud eke, Elle , eme , ere , eve , ewe , eye gag, gig , gog , hah, hallah , huh kayak, keek non, noon , nun pap, peep , pep, pip, poop, pop, pup, radar, redder, refer, repaper, rever, , reviver, rotator, rotor . Palindromes are quite very common in words, phrases and common but they don’t usually occur in numbers. They are extremely rare in dates. For instance, imagine a day that is written as 1/1/1111 or a crazy date like 2/2/2222 and so on. The last date that was a palindrome was in 12/12/12. That was about eight years ago. The dates with the perfect palindromes are very rare to the extent that sometimes a thousand years would

UNRECIPROCATED LOVE.

Image
Unreciprocated love. Nothing hurts more than seeing someone you love loving someone else. This could drive someone crazy. At first, you start feeling jealous of the person who is being loved by the one you love. You begin to see that person as bad and wonder what the person you love sees in this person. With time, this jealousy begins to develop to anger and hatred, if not checked. We live in a very crazy world where things don’t happen the way they normally should. After working for long hours, you expect your boss to pay, to give you a raise even, instead the boss begins to tell you how bad business is going. You pay huge some for your child(ren) school; fees, expecting them to come out on top of the class at the end of the term but instead, they come home with grades far below your expectations. The list of all these life disappointments is endless. Perhaps, the worst part of these disappointments is unreciprocated love. Imagine loving someone so bad that it hurts e

A NIGERIAN HIGH SCHOOL OPERA MAKING.

I am currently teaching Literature in English on part time in a high school right here in Nigeria. I was brought in by the Proprietress to teach those guys after their previous literature teacher left.   The guys are just seven in number; there are only two boys among them. Somehow, we bonded the first time I started class with them. Though we have had our challenges and disagreements, yet I think I am getting to like them. I like them because they have oceans of untapped talents and their creativity- if they are properly guided- is limitless. There were times that I would teach them something in class and I would ask them to do their own and they won’t just do it, they would do it beyond my expectation. Very soon, I will put up some o the poems that these guys have been able to write for your reading pleasure. Last class I had with them, I thought them the types of drama and told them to start preparing for acting an opera which would be staged in front of the whole sc

HND/BSc. Rant HQ War.

Image
Is Bsc better than HND?  Today I was bored so I decided to past time on Facebook, checking people’s statuses and updates. In my notifications, I got a notification about something on Rant HQ (I can’t exactly remember what the notification was all about but I clicked it and it took me to Rant HQ. While scrolling through the posts on the group, a particular post caught my attention and I decided to take a chill pill and read up. The post was from a guy lamenting the stigmatization that comes with being a HND holder and how Bsc. Holders are considered to be far better than HND holders.  In the post, he pointed out that HND holders while in school were professionals who were taught the practical’s unlike their university counterparts whose curriculums are filled with inapplicable theories. He said and I quote “I bet, most University graduates cannot stand their polytechnics counterparts when it comes to practical in the field of study…never think that you are better than HND hol

A NATIONAL INSULT.

Image
Hanan Buhari was received at Tafawa Balewa Airport, Bauchi by Top Govt Officials. In one of my previous posts, I shared my candid opinion that the Nigerian Presidency has turned to a family business. I have received several comments after the post, castigating me that calling the Nigerian presidency a family business is - to say the least- uncalled for. I had apologized but it was an unapologetic apology, my view and stand about the subject still remain the same.  Like a prophet, barely a week after my post, one of the president's family member did an unforgettable thing!  Hanan Muhammadu Buhari just graduated with a first class in photography from Ravensbourne University, London and she is writing her project on Northern Nigerian culture.Hence, the need for her to travel to three selected Northern states viz Katstina (Her father's state), Bauchi and Kano and guess what, this trip was embarked on on the presidential private jet! Probably the presidential jet was given

RAYS OF HOPE, LAST PART.

My classmates and I at MaryHill High School, Washington DC, USA. ........So I took it up after that and got visa for you and I. I have been in US a week before I came to pick you.” “You came to kidnap me!” I retorted “Call it what you want” she said nonchalantly. “So how did you make me sleep and how were you able to smuggle me out of US with all those security at the airport?” “I gave you a sleeping pill that made you sleep for twenty four hours and lifted you in my arms- you weigh so much now- anyways, I took a cab to the airport and showed all my documents and told everyone who asked that you are on medication and not to be weaken and I showed them hospital papers to convince them- of course the papers were fake but they believed them!   It would have been tougher but I made settlement here and there and I was cleared through the customs. There is corruption even in the so called America” mum said scornfully. “So the rest of the story is simple” she said as she d
