WILL NIGERIA’S BORDERS BE OPENED IN JANUARY 2020?

Image
A cartoon impression of President Muhammadu Buhari at the border.  When the Nigerian government declared late this year that it wants to close the land borders against the importation of certain staple foods and other products, the whole country when agog with cries of protest. Different organizations and individuals screamed and shouted against the policy yet the government went ahead and sealed the borders against the importation of such goods. The major opposition party in Nigeria (PDP) was spitting venom and calling on international communities to come to the aid and rescue of average Nigerians that were about to be starved to death. I also expressed the same opinion. Closing the Nigerian borders is a positive step in the right direction but the timing is very WRONG. China once did the same. The people of China paid the price with their blood and the blood of their relatives. Millions of Chinese reportedly died from hunger and diseases. But today, China owes most of its dev

NIGERIAN GOVERNMENT AND HATE SPEECH.

Image
Nigeria government against hate speech.  Once again, Nigeria’s tyrants are on the rampage. The lions are hunting for innocent lambs to devour.  Worldwide, hate speech is seen as a crime and depending on the country and the level of the offence involved, the punishment is very grievous. So no one can blame Nigerian’s government for taking steps to curb hate speech (especially on social media) BUT the government will most likely a difference in opinion to its plans and agenda as hate speech. According to the Oxford dictionary, hate speech can be defined as an abusive or a threatening speech or a writing that expresses prejudice against a particular group, especially on the basis o race, religion, or sexual orientation. “Also, hate speech can be defined as a speech that attacks a person or a group on the basis of protected attributes such as race, religion, ethnic origin, national origin, and sex, disability, sexual orientation or gender identity” says Wikipedia.  Is freedom o

Huawei Wi-Fi 6 LATEST TECHOLOGY, HUAWEI WI-FI 6. The technology world is moving at a very fast pace. This pace is gradually ushering the human race into what I call "race age'. This is he age when the speed and the rate at which human beings do things are at the speed of light. Huawei recetly released a connceetivity product called Wi-Fi 6. According to Next Gen , “Wi-Fi 6 is a short-distance wireless technology and is most suitable for indoor coverage. Due to the limitation of spectrum resources and power, Wi-Fi 6 does not work well in outdoor long-distance scenarios where signals are prone to interference. While 5G network is planned and managed uniformly by the national authorities based on licensed spectrum resources. For outdoor coverage, signal interference is low, and therefore 5G is a feasible solution.   For indoor coverage, however, high-frequency (24 GHz to 52 GHz) signals used by 5G are extremely prone to attenuation, and consequently, complex network

IS BUHARI ABOUT TO SACK OSINBAJO?!

Image
Chief of staff Abba Kyari and VP, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo.  For about ten days now, the Nigerian president, President Muhammadu Buhari has travelled to the United Kingdom for personal reasons. Yet, public funds had been used for these personal reasons. Being the president of the federal republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari had not travelled alone, neither has he boarded a public plane and fly on economic class for this strip, he had gone- as usual- with all the paraphernalia of the presidency- with public funds. For reasons unknown to many, the president did not fully handed power over to his vice (or so we believe). A couple of days back the chief of staff to the president, Abba Kyari took some bills that needed to be signed into law to the United Kingdom, for the president’s assent. Yet, he too had not travelled alone. You can imagine the number of aides and assistants that must have accompanied him on this fruitless mission. A close crop shot of President

WHY DOES LAGOS STINK SO BADLY?! (A Travelogue).

Image
One of the dirtiest places in Lagos, (photo source; Naijapals).  For people who are living in Lagos, their sense of smell had been dulled by the stink that pervades many of the public places but a visitor or a newbie in Lagos will immediately feel the stink. From Berger to Ketu to Oshodi, Ebute Metta and all other popular places in Lagos, this stink hovers everywhere. It is a stink of decades of unwashed gutters and rotting human and natural wastes. This past week, I was in Lagos for an interview. From Ibadan, the road leading to Lagos was smooth and wide enough to accommodate as many vehicles as possible. I was excited that finally, the money that the federal government pumps into the road is finally paying off. But as we journeyed onward, the road became rough and at some places, very narrow. There were times when both ongoing and oncoming vehicles had to share the same lane and this made the journey less enjoyable. Fortunately enough, the driver of our bus was a funny cha

IN DEPENDENCE. BOOK REVIEW, CRITICISM AND COMMENTARIES.

In Dependence book summary.  Today, I want to review a book written by a Nigerian born author; Sarah Ladipo Manyika. I picked up the book a couple of years ago when it was recommended for JAMB candidates. The book is actually very interesting BUT for an average Nigerian, it is boring. I have met many people- especially the youths and teenagers who think the book is “boring”. We shall talk about the whys later on in this review. But for now, let’s take a look at the book itself before we start considering what people think. In this review, there are different sections or parts and they are numbered below: About the author. The background of the book  The Summary of the book The characters in the book Commentaries on the book The criticism of the book.
