Today is a palindromic day!



A palindrome is a word, phrase, or sequence that reads the same backwards as forwards, e.g. madam or nurses run. A palindrome is a type of word play in which a word, phrase, or sentence reads the same backward or forward. These are some examples of palindromes: bib, bob
boob, bub, dad, deed did, dod, dud eke, Elle, eme, ere, eve, ewe, eye gag, gig, gog, hah, hallah, huh kayak, keek non, noon, nun pap, peep, pep, pip, poop, pop, pup, radar, redder, refer, repaper, rever, , reviver, rotator, rotor.

Palindromes are quite very common in words, phrases and common but they don’t usually occur in numbers. They are extremely rare in dates. For instance, imagine a day that is written as 1/1/1111 or a crazy date like 2/2/2222 and so on. The last date that was a palindrome was in 12/12/12. That was about eight years ago. The dates with the perfect palindromes are very rare to the extent that sometimes a thousand years would pass before we can have a perfect palindromic day.

What is a perfect palindromic day?

A perfect palindromic day is the one in which all the numbers in the date are SAME. This means that if the day is 2, the month must also be 2 (February) and the year must be 2222 (two thousand two hundred and twenty two). Therefore, the date would look something like this: 2/2/2222.

The last perfect palindromic day was 1/11/1111. That was 909 years ago, that is almost a thousand years ago! Now let’s imagine what the world looked like a thousand years ago. Imagine that time when there was no bicycle, no motorcycle, no skyscrapers, no telephones or mobile phones, no cars, not air planes or jets or ocean liners, no computer and of course the level of technology was very minimal. That is why we don’t have a picture of saints like Jesus Christ who had passed through this world. 909 years ago, people die from simple diseases and sicknesses that small tablets and painless operation will easily cure.

Away from the past, let’s talk about the future. The next palindromic day would be 2/2/2222. It is not so far from now; it is just a little over two hundred years from now. Simple, right? But hey, it is not so short when you think about the fact that two hundred years from now, none of us who is alive and reading this post now would be alive then! 2/2/2222, a lot of things would have happened to this world. There could be third world war before then or there may be another colliding with our planet before then. 

Before 2/2/2222, the level of science and technology would have been so advanced that cure would have been found for cancer and other terminal diseases. Before two hundred years from now, different fashion trends would have come and go. Way of life of people would have changed totally from what it is now. Maybe, just maybe, the people in the future would be wearing only small cloth to cover their private parts. May be before two hundred years from now, we would have discovered another planet that is habitable for man or we might have been able to get in touch with lives outside our own galaxy and our space knowledge would be so vast that the space itself- every nooks and crannies of it would become our playing ground. Who knows?

Advantages of Palindromes?

It has not been proven or disprove that days that are palindromes are special. Basically speaking, they are just like any other days but some psychic and religious people have placed great importance on days like this, simply because days like this rarely occur in a person’s lifetime. So they build an aura of mystery around these days. The truth is that no matter how long someone lives, he or she can never witness two perfect palindromic dates, it is simply IMPOSSIBLE. I’m quite sure that not even Methuselah witnessed such special phenomenon. Yet, palindromic days have not scientifically proven importance. We just celebrate those days as a way of thanking God for allowing us to witness such special days.
