How are you doing? How is the second semester examination coming on? How are your friends-Raymond, Chika and Mary? Mary's mum told me that she (Mary) is no longer communicating with them at home, I hope that she has gotten in touch with them? Is Raymond still smoking and partying? Are you and Mary studying together now, you know that is my wish. She is one of the best friends a girl should associate herself with.  I hope they are all doing well? I...

O RIDE (O PAY) OR GOKADA?

Image
ORide rider and a passenger  Gokada,  promo picture.  Review and commentary. Nigeria and Nigerians have been buzzing with the latest means of transportation for some weeks now. ORide, a motorcycle taxi company launched a revolutionary motorcycle transporting business that is called ORide. According to the company in an interview with newsmen, it said that it has invested over a billion naira in acquiring new motorcycles, hiring and training riders and logistics. The ideology behind this revolution is to provide a faster, easier and affordable means of transportation to people dwelling in the cities. To be sure, Lagos was the main focus of this system because it is the commercial capital of Nigeria and it boasts the largest population in Nigeria (contrary to the assertion of Nigerian Population Commission). Because of this huge population, most roads in Lagos and other major cities in Nigeria like Kano, Port Harcourt and Abuja are hectic and fill with ho...

THE WOES OF A NIGERIAN SCHOOL GIRL. An average Nigerian girl is faced with many problems. Apart from family issues which is undeniably number one factor militating against an average girl child in Nigeria, there are also societal factors that deals a daunting blow. All these are parts of the problems that a young Nigerian girl will most likely face.   The girl and her friend, standing on the road during school hours in Ibadan, Nigeria. The girl, she was engrossed in her conversation with the man. A picture shot of the girl from behind. Last week, I was on my way to somewhere in Ibadan (Oyo State, Nigeria) around 11AM. On the way to my destination, I saw a parked jeep beside the road and a man in his late forties was behind the wheel and standing at the driver’s side of the car was a teenage school girl in her school uniform. Her friend was standing several paces away from the vehicle, the man and her friend. From the way she stood, I could tell that s...

LETTER TO MY DAUGHTER.

Image
Your Loving Dad. Letter To My Daughter. Dear Rose, I want to believe that you are reading this letter alone because there are so many things I want to tell you which are meant for your eyes and ears alone. But before I start, let me quickly ask about your friends. How is Mary, has she stopped using those creams that make her look like a rainbow- black legs, white face, purple hands? (Chuckles). What about Raymond, is he still smoking and clubbing instead of facing his studies? Hope Chika has not slackened in taking the first position in his department? Tell her that I am proud of her and I prayerfully wish that you, my beautiful daughter, will be like her and let go of your other friends. I hope all of them are fine, if so glory to God. First and foremost, I want to bring your attention to an issue that has been disturbing me for a long time. I am deeply sorry that I am unable to provide everything that you need. I know my duties as a parent but I am financially handic...

THE SCOURGE OF THE FULANI HERDSMEN-FARMERS CONFLICT IN NIGERIA.

Image
THE SCOURGE OF THE FULANI HERDSMEN-FARMERS CONFLICT IN NIGERIA. A picture of people gruesomely murdered in Benue state. Nigeria is in trouble. Deep trouble but the troubling part of this problem is that the federal government of Nigeria is nonchalant about it. Apart from the plague of terrorism which crash landed on the soil of this country about ten years ago and which has claimed thousands of lives and renders many thousands more homeless, there is the religious fanaticism. Though this country is meant to be a secular state, yet one religion is hegemonic and its powers is growing by day, snuffing life life out of other religions, especially Christianity. Islamic religion is like a deadly virus, spreading its deadly tentacles to sll the nooks and crannies of the country. Even the so called political leaders are not left out of this fanaticism. For instance, Kano state Governor, Ibrahim Ganduje publicly declared during the last ramadan fasting that no one should eat public...
