Good afternoon dear Rose. How are you doing? How is the second semester examination coming on? How are your friends-Raymond, Chika and Mary? Mary's mum told me that she (Mary) is no longer communicating with them at home, I hope that she has gotten in touch with them? Is Raymond still smoking and partying? Are you and Mary studying together now, you know that is my wish. She is one of the best friends a girl should associate herself with. I hope they are all doing well? If so, glory be to God.

I appreciate your response to my last letter. it was the response that I was expecting. Your mother says that I should be greeting you too. Daniel and David send their greetings as well. Grandma said that should you top the class this semester, she would tell you tens of moonlight stories throughout your second semester break (wow).

Something you said in your last letter is the reason why I am writing this. You said that you have seen a boy in your department whom you like and wouldn't mind to date him if he proposes to you. I appreciate your telling me this. I wouldn't want what happened to Aminat to happen to you. Aminat was secretly dating a boy then. She didn't let her parents know because of what they would say. therefore, she and the boy mistakenly had sex one day and she became pregnant. Shameful and distrusted, she sought the help of a quack doctor who attempted to abort the pregnancy for her but it was unsuccessful and days later, she began to bleed. Throughout all this time, her parents didn't know anything until she fainted. She died on the way to the hospital.
You know why i am saying all these, i is because i dot want you to hide anything from me, especially, matters relating to dating and relationships.

Back to your question, you said that you and Jide (your boyfriend) whom you have been dating for about three years now almost had sex before you were able to put a stop to it last month. You want to know if it is right or wrong to have sex with him though you love him and he loves you too. Well, you are already an adult and I cannot impose decisions on you any longer. A twenty year old girl is old enough to make decisions on her own. However, I am still your dad and I want you to answer this question. Jide wants sex, but do you want it too? If it comes from your heart and you are ready for whatever happens after, then go ahead, otherwise, hold on a little bit.
Sex is good. It is enjoyable. So don't let anyone tell you that it is not. If god who created us doesn't want us to have sex, he wouldn't have given sex organs. This will tell you that God approves it.
What does our religion say about sex? Well, our religions support it too! But, pre-marital sex is frowned on by our religion. It is believed that whoever has pre-marital sex has offended God and I hold the same opinion. It it is not right, what if you break up later, you cannot undo what you have done.

Besides, there are sexually transmitted diseases and infections. You could become pregnant, worse you could be infected. Everything in life has a price. The price for each everything differs and each person may be required to witness different consequences for same action.let Aminat's case be a lesson to you. She was very decent, industrious, hardworking and well mannered. But a single mistake costs her her life. That was the price she paid for her action. Others could pay worse or milder prices. No one knows what your own price would be.

My concern for you about this is that, you and Jide are most likely to breakup after this. Please don't laugh at me yet. Yes, I know that you love him madly and he loves you too but anything can go wrong in the long run. Besides, most guys respect for ladies that they have not married reduces the moment they have sex with them. This is true and am speaking from experience.

Le me share my experience with you. A very long time ago, long before I met your mother, while I was still in high school, I had a girlfriend then. Her name was Precious. We were madly in love with each other and the love was so intense and fierce that we swore an oath not to leave each other till we die. So you can imagine how serious we were.

We attended the same school and we were in the same level at school. We had a meeting place and every night, we used to meet at the spot and talked about life and things. Both of us were so full of dreams of the house that we would build, the country we would love to live in, the number of children we would have and what we would like to become in life generally. Each night we meet, we would talk for about two hours and parted. Then there was no mobile phone so we always picked 8 O Clock. Rose, you can not fully understand how we loved each other!

After several months, something happened one day. When we were about to part that night, after giving each other the usual hug, I asked for a kiss, just a kiss and as a responsible lady, she refused. That night, she did not allow me to kiss her. The following day, it was part of the things that we talked about. I insisted that it is just a kiss and nothing more but she told me that an innocent kiss could lead to other things (like sex). I said it was impossible. After a week, she gave in and allowed me to kiss her. After that day, we began to kiss every time we met.

As human beings, once we have something, we always aspire to go to the next level. So some months later, due to pressure from my friends, I invited her to my house. (My friends said that i was dulling myself by meeting her at night and giving her ordinary hugs and kisses). We both knew what i had in mind when I invited her to my house so she out-rightly refused to come to my house. For days after that, I shunned her (foolish me!) Whenever I saw her with her friends or in class, I would look away as if I've not seen her. I was doing all these just to make her come to my house. She was really troubled and sad by these actions and I knew that sooner or later, she would give in or lose me altogether.

One day, i found a note inside my locker, it was from her. I still remember what she wrote in that simple note. It reads;
"Meet me tonight at our usual place"

I was very happy with the note because I had stopped going to meet her at our usual place because she refused to come to my house. So that night, I went to the usual place when the time was 8 O clock in the evening. She was there before I got there. After greeting each other, she went down on her two knees and said "Oromidayo, please don't do this. No good will come out of doing this and it may affect us for the rest of our lives. i love you and I want to spend the rest of my life with you. I want yours to be the last face I see when my eyes close in death." After saying all these, she waited for my response but I didn't say anything. I was still angry that she didn't want to come. I turned back and began to walk away but she called me back. "Okay, if you won't talk to me because of this then I will come to your house. But if you truly love me, you will listen to me and let go of this crazy idea. please...." she began to cry but I was unmoved.

In a nutshell, she gave in and visited me the following Saturday. Then we did it. You know what I mean?

Let me say it here that I didn't enjoy that first experience and neither did she. Besides, the whole thing ended within a couple of minutes.After it, I begged her to stay a while but she insisted that she wanted to leave so I had no choice but to see her off. From that moment, the feelings and affection that we had for each other gradually faded and a month later, we barely spoke to each other. No wind blew sweet music in our ears when we saw each other again. Our hearts no longer beat madly when we sighted each other. We both tried to pull the relationship together but it was gone, washed up like a piece of cloth at the seashore.
