YORUBA TRADITIONAL POLITICAL SYSTEM The pre colonial Yoruba political system was arguably one of the most politically advanced societies in the sub Sahara Africa. It had most of the features of the modern society. It was democratic to some extent and there was checks and balances against arbitrary use of power. Yoruba pre-colonial administration was not highly centralized compared to Hausa/Fulani system. The reason being that the Oba is not an absolute ruler and there is the principle of checks and balance. Examples of Yoruba kingdoms include the Oyo kingdom, Ekiti parapò, Ijesha, Ẹ̀gbá Aláké kingdom, Ijebu, Abeokuta, etc. In this case, Oyo empire is normally being taken as case study. PRE COLONIAL POLITICAL SYSTEM IN NIGERIA  Hausa Fulani  The Fulani took over the political leadership of the Habe (Hausa) states in the early  century. The jihad that followed this occupation was seen as a religious one as well as political. Usman Dan Fodio led the Fulani Jihad and took over the political leadership of the Hausa and established Sokoto caliphate with outstanding centralized political system of government. Breaking News! Reasons Why We Postponed Saturday Election - INEC

INEC has opened up why it postponed the last Saturday Presidential and National Assembly election in the early ours of Saturday in a close door meeting held in Abuja, the FCT of Nigeria. After a marathon meeting which lasted about eight hours, the Independent National Commission (INEC) in the early morning of Saturday announced postponement of the general elections. Consequently, the Presidential and National Assembly elections will come up next Saturday, 23rd February 2019 while the governorship and state Assembly election will now hold on 9th March, 2019. INEC had earlier scheduled today 16th February 2019 for the presidential and National Assembly, while the State elections were scheduled for 2nd March, 2019 before this latest decision by the commission. There are many erroneous misconceptions about the truth behind the origin of valentine celebrations on February 4th of every year. A very  long time ago after the death of Jesus Christ, many disciples rose to preach the Gospel and many  of them were seriously opposed. This led  to  the martyrdom of many of them and funny enough, the killing of one of these disciples  was what led to  the lovers day celebrations that we all know today   Valentino was a common name that people were bearing at the time so there were many disciples of Jesus who went by that name.
